I SUPPORT Sheila Gunn's campaign to stop staff from the Princess Royal University Hospital parking in nearby roads (Double Parking Is Load of Rubbish, News Shopper, August 16).

The same problem as Mrs Gunn experiences occurs in Hilda Vale Close, but for a different reason.

The close was constructed only half the width of a normal road and therefore cars parked all down one side make it impossible for large vehicles such as ambulances and fire engines to get through.

On most weekdays between 8am and 6pm there are between five to seven NHS staff cars parked in the close on a regular basis making it impossible for large vehicles to get through.

In the past our refuse collection has not been done on the due date, as is the case in Mere Close, because the large lorry could not gain access.

Tax paying residents should not be inconvenienced in this manner.

We never agreed our roads, albeit they are public, should be an alternative car park for the hospital.

It would appear there are insufficient parking spaces in the hospital complex but this is not a problem which should be visited upon residents.

We strongly urge the council together with the NHS Trust to take urgent, positive, constructive action to put a stop to what is becoming a general nuisance in the Locksbottom area.
