AN INQUIRY has revealed a British Army sergeant died in Iraq three years ago because he lacked body armour - there was "not enough to go round".
Fifteen years ago I had to provide, at my own expense, boots for my soldier son because the Army hadn't got any.
He is now employed in Iraq by a private company working for the British Army.
His employer provides him with a full set of body armour paid for ultimately by the British taxpayer.
It seems the Government, so enthusiastic when it comes to sending our forces to the most dangerous places in the world, remains rather less enthusiastic when it comes to providing sufficient funding to ensure they are fully equipped for the job.
