HEALTH HAZARD: Your item Clean Scheme Is A Waste Of Money (News Shopper, March 8) quoted Bromley Council's leader inviting readers to suggest areas which need cleaning by calling 020 8313 4557 or visiting bromley.gov. uk/neatstreet. Many Orpington residents who live on the west side of the High Street reach the shops via a series of footpaths. Nobody seems to take responsibility for what is now a squalid health hazard. I rang the number suggested and was unimpressed by the response. The officer seemed unaware of any scheme. Is the council really interested in cleaning such areas?

FILTHY BRIDGE: If there was an accolade for the filthiest public spot in the borough, Clock House Ward's Birckbeck Bridge, Elmers End Road, would be unrivalled. It has been raised with ward councillors and council officials but to no avail. This filth is totally unacceptable and an environmental hazard come on Bromley, do something about it.

SUPERB SERVICE: We seem to be always hearing of the shortcomings of the NHS. I would however, in defence of the service, like to report my own recent experience. Following a visit to my GP, problems were apparent which required investigations by a urology consultant. I was referred to the fast-track urology clinic at Beckenham Hospital and was seen just over a week later. The prompt treatment was superb full marks to the NHS.

NO TIME FOR TABLES: I would like to inform readers bus timetables in leaflet form are no longer available. One must now refer to a website or call Transport for London. I had hoped the leaflets would be available at the Civic Centre or library, but only a photocopy at a cost of 20p per item is possible. Surely this is a retrograde step when we are encouraged to use public transport?

MESSY RIDERS: We are absolutely fed up with the trail bikes in the woods at the back of Kevington Manor. They have made a real mess. Recently, a friend called us on our mobile while we were walking there. Two bikes came towards us but soon disappeared when they saw the mobile I wonder why?
