I am writing with regard to the proposed plan to demolish two houses in Madeira Avenue, Shortlands, and replace them with town houses.
Madeira Avenue sits on one side of the Ravensbourne valley with a wealth of mature trees.
The area would therefore be especially vulnerable to inappropriate development which does not respect the balance between nature and the built environment.
The developers care nothing for this their plans would mean the loss of mature trees and much of the gardens, the unnecessary demolition of two houses and the squeezing of as many town houses as possible into the space.
Bromley has inherited a rich and varied architectural legacy from the past but too much has been lost as perfectly sound housing stock is needlessly demolished.
Residents are right to oppose this application.
