AT THE Bexley Police/Community Consultative Group meeting, I was delighted to hear every ward in Bexley will be getting a safer neighbourhood team of police officers.
Bob Neill, Conservative GLA member for Bexley and Bromley, said the Conservatives on the GLA are supporting funding a safer neighbourhood team in every ward.
He also said he was disappointed the original plan to have six officers in each ward has dropped to four.
In Lesnes Abbey Ward, we have had no officer for two years. The official police crime statistics show an increase in all types of crime in our ward.
A man recently broke into a block of flats on the Hurst Lane Estate, terrorising the residents. When the police were called, they did not turn up.
I have written many unanswered letters to the police complaining about the lack of an officer. We will be pleased to welcome a team of officers to our ward next month but it will take them time to rebuild the trust.
