REGARDING the proposed new school on the Ladywell Leisure Centre site.
Steve Bullock says it is what the people of Lewisham want.
I was campaigning for Save Ladywell Pool outside the library.
At least 75 per cent of passers-by signed my petition and expressed outrage at the decision.
Only one person said he approved the decision and he thought definite plans for a new pool were in place, which they are not.
It is simply not true the people of Lewisham want this.
But the mayor has not consulted them, so how would he know?
Mr Bullock also says there will be no loss of swimming opportunities in the borough.
How can removing the largest and most central swimming facility not result in a loss of swimming opportunities?
Those who want to keep Ladywell Pool open will not be voting for Steve Bullock.
All of the other candidates have coherent proposals which do not jeopardise the prospect of Building Schools for the Future funding.
They would like to site the new school where it is needed in the north of the borough, away from a noisy, dangerous and polluted main road.
Residents who find this decision illogical, bullying and undemocratic will be amazed by the assertion it is what the people want. Where is your evidence, Mr Bullock?
