Mr Grey thinks the new layout at the Hewitt's roundabout should be changed (News Shopper, Janaury 18). I sympathise with the experience he had but surely this was more due to the idiot driver he encountered?

I have driven round it a number of times since it was redesigned and have found it wholly helpful.

It gives a valuable indication of a safe line to follow, according to the exit you plan to take.

It discourages drivers from wandering rather aimlessly from outside to inside and back. Of course one still has to signal as you go and it doesn't prevent other drivers doing something foolish/dangerous, as Mr Grey found.
