I SUFFER from frequent driveway blocking by thoughtless and selfish parking, even when my car is visible on my drive, preventing my exit.

The law is an ass since although an obstruction offence is being committed the police, who have the authority to have the vehicle removed, do nothing.

It is not an obstruction to block someone from entering their drive on returning home.

Visitor's permits or badges would not work as the scheme would be abused and many drivers accept the risk of a fine and park illegally anyway.

The only solution I can see would be to change the law to make it an offence to block access both on and off a driveway and offending vehicles be removed to a secure pound where costs and a fine have to be paid before the vehicle is released.

Councils run their own or subcontract out services which remove abandoned or illegally-parked vehicles.

These could be made available for use in these instances upon receipt of complaint from the householder.

Perhaps a councillor reading this letter might put forward this suggestion and have it implemented.
