IN March last year I was walking slowly down the steps at Blackheath Station towards the London-bound platform.
My heel caught the steel tred on the stairs and I lost my balance and had the unfortunate experience of falling down the stairs. I was in shock and lucky not to have broken any limbs.
The stairs are lethal and in a disgustingly dirty state.
I have written to Network Road, South Eastern Trains and met the station manager who said "they were fit for their use".
I have also written to health and safety as there is no access for wheelchairs or pushchairs, you have to go on the opposite side of the platform to another station so you can get on a train for Charing Cross.
This is ludicrous and unacceptable. The front of the station is painted brightly but I feel safety is more important.
The toilets are also disgusting and locked most of the time.
I have also written to the deputy mayor and the Transport Users Committee, without success.
The station has just had yellow railings put along the platform for no use.
Everyone I speak to agrees with my comments and I hope News Shopper can make someone see the urgency of this case.
