THE Government has launched icons.org.uk to search for a list of the greatest icons of English culture.
Items on the list ranged from the song Jerusalem to Punch and Judy, as well as the Routemaster bus.
It's ironic in the few months after the Routemaster was killed off by Ken Livingstone we are already saying it was one of the things which defines us as a country.
This website proves the Routemaster is still very much loved and Livingstone was right when he said only "a dehumanised moron" would want to take them off the road.
He has made excuses for getting rid of the Routemaster but in truth he is whimsical.
His latest whim is the bendy bus the legendary Routemaster was never going to stand in the way of introducing them.
The Mayor should hang his head in shame. I hope for once he learns from one of his mistakes.
