POOR SHOWING: We went to see the film Memoirs of a Geisha at Cineworld in Bexleyheath. In spite of the fact the reels were in the wrong order, so an important chunk of the story was missing, the cinema manager chose to ignore our complaint and continue the showing. Refunds were given to the six of us who left and demanded our money back the rest of the customers were shown the film as it was. Even worse, this was the second showing so presumably they already knew the film was faulty. We would be interested to know whether they showed the film again on Saturday. If you saw this film and think you were ripped off, then complain. Even though we got our money back our evening was ruined. We will never visit this cinema again.

BE HONEST: Regarding Group Says It Has Been Stitched Up' (News Shopper, January 11). Why would police borough commander Chief Superintendent Robin Merrett, a public employee, want to have a prior meeting with the Bexley Community Safety Partnership before the joint meeting with the Bexley Police Community Consultative Group, chaired by Graham Holland? What were they hatching which they did not want the Bexley Police/ Community Consultative Group to know about? Chief Supt Merrett should remember who pays his salary and who his employers are. Couldn't he have been honest and at least invited Graham Holland to his' meeting? The superintendent is accountable and should be more open to all.

TALL TALE: Who believes in fairy tales? Obviously News Shopper does, printing yet another story about another wild beast lurking in our streets (Walker Comes Face To Face With Wild Cat, News Shopper, Janaury 11). How many others have imagined seeing this ficticious beast? Common sense must prevail. Surely if there was a wild animal prowling our streets and countryside there would be some badly savaged or killed domestic or wild animals, or even humans. None have ever been reported. Perhaps this creature only eats grass or does not need to feed? When I was a child one dark night, I definitely saw a witch on a broomstick flying over the moon. But even at that young age I put it down to imagination as surely this was what it was.
