I BELIEVE Hextable village has Swanley Town Council running scared regarding the campaign to break away and form its own parish council.
Its concern is not for the people of Hextable but for those of Swanley, as it will be losing the £125,000 which Hextable puts into their coffers at the moment.
In the past Swanley Town Council has taken our playing field, against the wishes of the villagers and sold it for £1m and our Victorian College which we wanted it to retain.
But then it has never listened to what Hextable wanted.
The £2,750 for work done on the so called wet-lands in Hextable Park was because the council had neglected it for many years, ignoring villagers' requests for its restoration.
I wrote letters and made telephone calls for five years to get the pond cleaned up but was either fobbed off or ignored by the council until it finally decided to restore it.
This is why it cost so much and now it is again being neglected.
Only when Hextable Park started to look like a deprived area, with rusty railings, broken gates, unkept bushes, overrun with weeds and looking like a rubbish tip did it decided to refurbish it.
It should not have been allowed to fall into such a state.
Swanley Town Council had its chance and blew it.
