Visiting a friend this week in the Princess Royal Hospital University Hospital, Farnborough, he couldn't speak highly enough of the hospital and the care he was receiving from the nursing staff, which we found reassuring.
I was dismayed however, at the number of adult visitors at the next bed, six in all.
They showed no consideration for the other patients with their lively banter and my friend found this quite upsetting, especially as a patient nearby was obviously very poorly.
I trained at the hospital 50 years ago, when discipline was rigid and the patients' comfort was our prime concern.
Only two visitors were allowed to each bed and I think should be enforced again.
