I would like to echo the comments of Colin Fairclough in his letter Couple Weren't Getting Married (News Shopper, January 4).
It seems the media have been quite confused about this calling gay unions "marriage".
Mr Fairclough stated "Marriage is a state entered into by a man and a woman. It is incorrect and inappropriate to use the word when describing the relationship between two people of the same sex."
I could not have put it better myself.
