EACH year we pay council tax which pays for services which should be provided by Bexley Council.
This includes refuse collection.
Yet at the busiest time of year it cannot even provide that.
We pay for the service therefore it should be provided regardless of whether it is Christmas or not. You expect the service to be disrupted, but to not get it at all is not on.
We should be refunded the money we have paid towards this when the service is missed.
Surely it would have been better for them to have provided the service over the Christmas period than to waste our money paying overtime because of the extra work the dustmen now have to do now?
If we had our Christmas in the summer months like they do in New Zealand and Australia, then this would be a health hazard.
I appreciate staff are entitled to leave but there must have been some staff available because they came round to empty the bin at the bus stop outside my house. So why was there no refuse collection?
Other councils managed to carry on providing refuse service, so why not Bexley?
I suggest Bexley Council takes a look at this big mistake and makes sure it doesn't happen again, because next time people will take their rubbish and dump it outside the Bexley Council offices and see if they like it.
There's only so much you can cram in the wheelie bins.
