THERE is a lack of pram/disabled access to the down-line platform at New Eltham station.
I am hoping this public name-and-shame method, in addition to letters I've written to South Eastern Rail and my MP, will produce the necessary positive results.
On New Year's Day, when needing to return to Sidcup from New Eltham with my baby granddaughter in her pram, I found there is no easy access path onto the down-line platform. The steps and bridge stairs are too dangerous to use with a pram.
I finally had to walk home with the pram, 45 minutes in the cold and rain, because it was not sensible to stand waiting in such weather for bank holiday buses.
The train, had it been accessible, would have got me home in under 10 minutes.
Surely this lack of access for prams is illegal now? Something urgently needs to be remedied at New Eltham station in this respect. South Eastern Rail get to grips now with the reality of special needs. Something must be done to ensure everyone has safe and sensible access they need to trains.
