Catford may not be a world-beating shopping centre but it has much more to offer than your ungracious Canadian correspondent suggests (Happy To Finally Leave Crap-ford' For Good, News Shopper, December 14).

Catford has supplied me with an excellent bed, a reliable second-hand car, countless plants from the Saturday flower market and attractive clothes and shoes on my limited budget.

I've enjoyed lunches at the Japanese restaurant and noted the great fruit and veg display at the Turkish shop.

As long as you follow the signs, the Catford one-way system is perfectly logical.

Lewisham Council should work with existing traders on how to keep them in business and support the local market.
