IS IT just me or are there some other elderly people out there who applaud the fact London has won the greatest event on the world stage in 2012?
If we pensioners should be lucky enough to live this long and witness this great event, how fortunate we will be to have seen two Olympics during our lifetime.
Being only 70 I can just about remember the 1948 Olympics and the great heroes and champions it gave us.
Reg Harris springs to mind as I was a keen cyclist at the time.
We saw Zatopeck and a Dutch lady Fanny Blankers someone?
Now don't get me wrong, I am aware there are many of us who find it hard to manage and I dread to think what inflation will have done to our pensions when we reach 2012.
I am sure the Government will make allowances to help those of us in need when the time comes.
Why don't we tighten our belts and donate towards what must be a great lasting legacy for our grandchildren to remember us by.
A whole sad area will be rejuvenated for a lifetime with houses, jobs and something for the kids to strive for.
How much will it cost? Less than a pint a week I believe.
Don't let us be portrayed as a load of old Scrooges all the time.
Merry Christmas.
