In response to Who Are They? (News Shopper, November 16).
It's about time someone brought these issues to everybody's attention as I'm sick and tired of being silenced in my own country.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we shouldn't help these people but when they come here it should be made clear they respect our heritage and our culture.
Just recently my daughter came home from school to tell me she was learning about Muslim culture and mosques.
Yes, it's great our children are taught about other cultures and world history but I was so angry when watching a programme last week where some black children were being interviewed about what Poppy Day was all about.
In response they said they didn't have a clue and was it something to do with the Labour Party!
Come on should we not be teaching British history first and foremost? Our children know all about Muslim and Sikh history but they know nothing about ours.
Somebody I know was asked to remove the St George flag from their window because they were told it was offensive to other cultures.
And what I would like to say is this; when we British travel the world it is to experience the different cultures which are individual to each and every country. When people come to Britain what do we have to offer? Every last bit of culture, heritage and pride is being squeezed out of our hearts.
If these people are sent here to integrate with the British people and become British citizens then let British mean British.
