I had just started my weekly shop in Sainsbury's in Crayford on Thursday, November 17 when a young woman tried to take my bag from my shopping trolley.
I'd had my back to the trolley at the time as I was selecting fruit and as I turned to put the fruit in the trolley I saw this woman with my bag. I asked her what the hell she thought she was doing? She put the bag back and started apologising, saying she'd thought it was her trolley.
I said a few choice words to her because I could see she had her bag over her shoulder and a man who was with her was pushing their trolley.
Again I asked her what she was up to? She just started to walk away with the man towards the entrance of Sainsbury's.
I went to a manager and pointed out the two people as they left the store. He followed them out and then came back to tell me he saw them meeting up with another man outside the store.
They were obviously a gang preying on people doing their shopping.
I'm more angry than anything else. What if I had been an elderly person who hadn't noticed or felt able to challenge them.
The matter was reported to a more senior manager who came to check I was all right.
When I gave him a description of the woman and he said someone very similar had been thrown out earlier that day.
Sainsbury's said they will check the CCTV but I want to warn other people doing their shopping to take care of their bags. It is so easy to be unaware of this sort of thing happening until its too late.
No time is a good time to have your bag/money taken but we all have an expensive time of year coming up. Stay safe.
