Greenwich Councillor Chris Roberts recently made a public statement that he welcomes the delay in the council tax revaluation of homes, in which the governments-proposed intention of revaluing homes would have resulted in most homes going up a band with so many paying more.
This is in spite of council tax going up far beyond inflation in which the excuse is homes are worth far more and some have made profit out of selling their homes, so not that some but all of us should pay more.
Like many others I have lived in my home for many years and do not intend to move and although its value has increased, we have not made a penny or benefited from it.
This would have been another stealth tax on us which more money would have been taken from us and gone into council and government coffers, but the government have shied off it so we are told for fear of losing the next election.
If some have got richer through selling their homes, it is they who are the ones that should be taxed more, not we who have not.
So Councillor Roberts, the revaluing of homes should not only be delayed but like the poll tax, scrapped and put in the dustbin!
