RETURNING from a two-week holiday, I was astonished to see your front page article of October 19 about Dave Brown's anti-speed camera campaign.

It is quite obvious from his comments he is unable to adhere to speed limits and when he speeds it is not his fault.

Mr Brown represents a sad element creeping into our society, where nothing is anyone's fault, nothing is anyone's responsibility and there is always someone else to blame.

Whether Mr Brown likes it or not, speed cameras work in reducing casualties.

They are only placed where there have been four or more people killed or seriously injured during a three-year period.

I doubt whether he has checked out this crucial piece of information with the Kent and Medway Safety Camera Partnership.

So what if the cameras raise revenue? They make the roads safer.

If you do not want to pay the fine then do not speed.

It is because there are too many people such as Mr Brown around we need speed cameras and he is naive to think driver education will solve the problem. This has clearly failed in his case.

How long have we been campaigning against drink-driving, yet people still do it and deaths and injuries still occur?
