IN REPLY to the letters by Mrs Brazier and Mr Leman, fireworks are no longer about children when it comes to garden fireworks and the days of oohs and ahhs of delight at the spectacular fizzing bang-free cascades have long gone.
Sadly now, its all about anti-social adults, usually the men and teens old enough to know better but too ignorant and selfish to care.
Their sole aim is to fill the sky with the most number of over-the-top, extremely loud bangs they can, as early as they can.
And as Mrs Brazier points out, there's no neighbourly consideration anymore or care for anybody else's children or pets.
Believe it or not, lower decibel levels and an 11pm legal stop time were in place from this year, yet the anti-social displays were still going on past 1am.
Why do we hear fireworks from mid-October?
And why do we need shops selling just fireworks?
It's because it's a guarantee the anti-socials want to start the bombardment of neighbourhoods as soon as possible.
Firework sellers know this why else would we hear repeaters in the daytime?
Someone in Government should be tackling this but they don't want to be seen as killjoys and are too afraid of losing votes.
But for those of you who like myself, and thousands of others who have been calling for a total ban on public sales, check out the national campaign for fireworks safety by visiting the website cgsystems.co.uk/ncfs
