COVER UP: Am I the only parent who is fed up with shops putting out lad mags on full view to everyone, including children? These magazines have nude women all over the front covers, yet most shops refuse to cover them up. A supermarket in Blackfen is now displaying this material at children's eye level. Surely it would not take much for them to file these magazines behind more suitable material, therefore not offending its customers? Not all of us want to look at breasts and bums when walking round the supermarket.

WHAT A WASTE: Regarding the front page story Hospital To Axe 25 Beds (News Shopper, November 9). How can the clinical assessment unit close? How can the hospital do without it? We know a budget has to be kept to but surely it should have been sorted out before it got to the stage of closing it down. I have been in the assessment unit and the nursing staff and all who are connected to the unit were excellent. Come on Queen Mary's bring back the clinical assessment unit. We need it.

NOT MOVING: On reading the letter from Gina Golesworthy of November 16 (Lady' Elbowed My Daughter In Head). I can only assume the lady' she refers to is the same one who almost pushed me off my disabled scooter and elbowed my three-year-old granddaughter out of the way in her haste to get to X Factor's 4thBa5e. I wish the lady' a Happy New Year but next Christmas, we will not be moved.

GREAT RESPECT: I was looking out of my sheltered accommodation flat on Remembrance Sunday at 11 o'clock when an articulated lorry stopped across the road. The driver got out of his cab and stood very quietly for two minutes, oblivious of all the traffic passing. Many of my friends and I salute him. He drove a Universal lorry. I hope you have good luck and good health always.

CLAIMING INTEREST: I know it will not be much consolation to Mr Franklin (Interesting Point, News Shopper, November 16) but it is the Inland Revenue which determines council tax valuations and not the council. We have written to Mr Franklin advising him on how to approach the Inland Revenue for compensation for loss of interest.
