I have spent time moaning about the street cleaning in Lewisham but now feel its time for some action.

First of all I would like to say that the street cleaners are second to none and even though Lewisham now seems so dirty, litter is cleared well.

I don't know if anyone from environmental health walks through Lewisham at any time, but I have to say that it smells so much.

I went to Lewisham library and I have to say that was the final straw - the outside of this great place has been used for weeks as a men's toilet, and because of the heat the smell was appalling and I am sure completely germ ridden.

There is a side turning near MacDonalds where the smell of sour milk and vomit is nauseating.

It seems that most small turnings are used freely as toilets and because of the hot weather things are going from bad to worse.

Hundreds of people visit Lewisham daily and with the addition of food stalls around the clock tower the pavements are becoming increasingly filthy.

One only has to look at the patio area of Yates including the disabled lift area to see just how dirty that it's not a good sight for people living and visiting Lewisham.

I am wondering if it is possible that some kind of water cleaning could be initiated during the evening to keep down these awful smells before they get out of hand, it really cannot be good for people's health and well-being, and we should not have to rely on rain to do the job.
