The information in Mr Bannister's letter is a little out of date. And I wonder if he knows what a "hypocrite" is; it is someone who does one thing but puts out the appearance of believing another.
So Welling Methodist Church Council may indeed be hypocrites because on October 10, at significant cost, they withdrew from their agreement with T-Mobile.
An antenna will not now be erected, despite the belief that there is no evidence that a mobile radio base station would present any danger to their children or the surrounding community.
I think the church should be commended for being so very sensitive to the concerns of the community by responding in a costly fashion to the distress expressed by a some local residents.
But it is a pity that charitable causes should have lost the considerable financial support the plan would have provided.
Please take note that the church is no longer in communication with T-Mobile and is not responsible for T-Mobile's stated plans that nevertheless they will set up a mobile base station close by to the church within the next two to three years.
However, in case there is any doubt, the church again wishes to reassure the community that it is still not aware of any danger whatsoever associated with mobile radio base stations.
