Your article (Mum's plastic surgery nightmare - Oct 5) did not say if the plastic surgeon told Ms Young how much it was going to cost her when she has to have the implants explanted.
The price for that runs between $8,500 and $12,000 (US).
She will be most fortunate if she can have ten years in which to save that money - many times leakage and rupture occur much earlier, as well as illnesses making it impossible for the implantee to work - like Rheumatoid Arthritis/Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis, and/or Sclerderma.
As one who has already trod that path, maybe she should start her savings account immediately?
