HARD WORK: Your front-page picture (I Saw Ram Raid Gang, News Shopper, November 2) shows the devastation caused to Hextable Post Office in the early hours of October 31 by a ram-raider. Due to the hard work of our postmaster Alan, his wife Margaret and their dedicated staff, it was business as usual first thing on November 2. They deserve our deepest admiration for their unstinting service to the people of Hextable and for giving us a reminder of the "We can take it" attitude which helped us to win the Second World War. Many thanks to all the people concerned.

LISTEN TO US: I agree our town will be ruined by the proposed regeneration plans. Dartford will no longer be an old market town with an identification of its own. All the small shops will disappear with the huge Tesco Superstore dominating the town. They are already closing down due to the threat of going under. Myself and thousands of other residents have been protesting against this proposal it is about time the council listened.
