THIS city doesn't need another major music venue if the plans for the Millennium Dome go ahead the queue outside the London Arena will be able to hear the bands playing the Dome and vice versa.
Only the river separates them.
What this city does have a shortage of is middle-sized venues.
It's a quantum leap from filling The Amersham Arms or The Albany to filling Wembley.
Venues the size of The Amersham Alms are few and far between now.
But there's a crying need for step-change venues in London 500, 1,000, 2,000 capacity.
The Mick Jagger Centre has a series of different-sized halls, all flexible as to seating capacity but it's just one venue.
So come on, AEG, give this city what it needs a musical multiplex with a range of seating capacities not what tickles the egos of politicians.
And while we're on the subject, does Blackwall Point sorry, Greenwich Peninsular really need another multi-screen cinema?
I don't think there is room for two and The Filmworks is already there.
Or does the council think if The Filmworks goes bust at least they are swapping a big empty white elephant for a small one?
