THE Green Party has consistently warned the proposed Thames Gateway Bridge would simply lead to more traffic and more pollution.
Academic research commissioned by the Greens on behalf of objectors shows both sides of the Thames will be hit by massive traffic increases if the bridge gets the go-ahead.
Leading transport academic Professor Phil Goodwin reveals Transport for London's own figures forecast traffic increases of over 200 per cent on some roads.
Plans for this new road must now be thrown out by the public inquiry.
If Mayor Livingstone had genuinely wanted to help the socially excluded of east and south-east London then he would have put money into improving public transport and creating jobs, rather than building a six-lane motorway bridge.
