I AM in complete agreement with Christine Hird regarding the stable block in Footscray Meadows.
The plans are not displayed in a prominent position but I would urge those interested in preserving the meadows to view the plans.
They can be seen at Sidcup Library or at Wyncham House.
I too would like to see the stables restored for public use. No doubt readers will remember when Danson Mansion was to be renovated by a builder.
All went drastically wrong. Luckily it was rescued in time and later, with the help of English Heritage, it has been transformed.
It is well worth a visit and is a credit to the borough.
In Danson Park, the stables were in a very dilapidated state. Now they have been tastefully renovated into a thriving pub/restaurant, as is the Jacobean Barn at Hall Place.
The stables in Footscray Meadows must also be renovated for the public to enjoy after all, this was the intention for this area.
Is there a hidden long term agenda here? We have recently heard much about national politics.
Is Bexley Council following the same route? Is this area eventually to be developed as a housing estate as Christine suggests?
Please can we have an official denial?
