IN REGARD to Barry Etherton's letter Car Boot Sale Ends For Good Reasons (News Shopper, May 18), it is true parking for hospital staff should have been reserved by the boot fair organisers but now the situation is worse.

The reference to "shooting themselves in the foot" refers to: l the car park is open at the weekends with no supervision and anyone can park there l in order to avoid chaos, the hospital will have to repair and replace the barrier and employ staff to regulate parking l It will have to back this up with an ultimate penalty for illicit parking on Saturdays and Sundays.

Wouldn't it be far easier to reinstate the boot fairs with a request to be strict on parking and make everyone happy?
