I WOULD like to alert all Bellingham residents to the Up 2 You scheme – which is putting choices about how to spend Bellingham ward’s £50,000 Mayor’s Fund allocation into the hands of the community.
As ward councillors myself, Alan Hall and Ron Stockbridge were pleased to add this year’s £10,000 Locality Fund to the pot too, so the Bellingham community has a total of £60,000 to spend on improvements for the area.
The people who know what is best for their local area are the people who live, work and learn there so if you are a Bellingham resident (which includes Home Park estate and part of the Perry Hill area) please get involved.
The application process for a share of the money is now open.
Anyone who lives in the ward, organises groups or runs activities there can apply – your idea must address one of the Bellingham Local Assembly "priorities" - activities and services for younger and older people, better parks and play areas, tackling anti-social behaviour and improving our local environment.
The deadline for applications is September 16 and further information and application forms are available from our co-ordinator, Sam Dias, on 020 8314 3386 or sam.dias@lewisham.gov.uk
The community will vote on which ideas will get the cash at a special event in the autumn.
Get applying now – it’s Up 2 You!
Councillor Ami Ibitson
Labour Councillor for Bellingham Ward
