Oh, it does annoy.
On Saturday, I returned to London after a week without newspapers.
To get my "media fix", I settled down with the “freebies” to get up to date with happenings in Eltham.
News Shopper, SE Nine, and the Mercury all provided the necessary information and entertainment. Sadly, as is usually the case, the Greenwich Times failed and, strictly speaking, it is not really a “freebie” since it comes out of council tax.
It duplicates a lot of information, misses other relevant news, and often misses out Greenwich Council social events (it even did this quite badly over Easter).
What it does supply are details of available council properties to many people who are not eligible.
Over the years it has increased in frequency and size and still fails to fulfil a useful purpose.
Were Greenwich residents ever asked if they wanted this inadequate publication costing, I should imagine, quite a large amount of council tax?
