ONE OF the greatest performances ever seen in Dartford (in my opinion)was put on at The Orchard Theatre recently.
Music for Heroes was a charity concert staged by The Royal Artillery Band and The Belvedere Concert Band and in total there were around 70 musicians on stage.
While these two bands were very very good, the highlight of the evening was two outstanding performances by Shane Hampsheir.
In the first act he sang swing songs which would would rival anyone in the world, Sinatra included! Shane has such charm, perfect phrasing and a personality which captivated everyone.
If that wasn't enough, Shane went on to perform songs from musicals in the second half and believe me, these compared with anything you might see on Broadway, let alone the West End.
We saw a true star and I was shocked to discover Shane is local to Dartford and has in fact performed many shows lately.
I was more shocked to find he hasn't been asked to perform at The Dartford Festival this year.
Dartford - you have lost the plot.
