HAVING read recent letters about changes to the R7 bus route I feel I must express my concern that the area where I live has no public transport at all.
Felstead Road, Hillcrest Road, Park Avenue and Goddington Lane are completely without public transport, while Court Road only has a school bus for the use of children twice a day.
There are a number of elderly residents in the locality and those who do not have their own transport find the walk home from Orpington town very strenuous and often difficult as it is uphill all the way.
Obviously the residents at the lower end of these roads do not experience the same problems but for those at the top wishing to catch a bus the only solution is to go to the top of Spur Road to pick up the R9.
This necessitates negotiating a flight of 17 steps to get down to the bus stop. OK if you have no walking problems but otherwise very difficult.
Surely Transport for London and Metrobus could provide some service for this neglected area?
