THANK YOU: I would like to thank the kind staff at the estate agents in Beckenham who helped my aunt when she fell and broke her wrist and cut her head last month. They called an ambulance and she was taken to Lewisham Hospital, where the staff were exemplary. My aunt felt very well looked after and had nothing but praise for everyone who helped her that day. Although she is 88, she is very mobile and very capable of looking after herself. She only fell after a bull terrier dog ran straight at her and knocked her off her feet. Luckily she was not more seriously injured, as the doctor told her she was lucky not to break a hip. The young boy with the dog was very apologetic but we do not think a child of that age should have a dog without a lead in a busy shopping area. If this was your child, or you know who he is, please try to ensure he uses a lead when he takes his dog out again.

LET THE FUN BEGIN: As a 63-year-old man I was amused to read the light-hearted web rant of Rick O’Shea (News Shopper, October 8), who would like to ban me from pavements and supermarkets between 7.30am and 7pm. I would like to challenge him to the following events: a 20-mile cycle to test his strength and endurance; a table tennis match to test his speed, agility and reactions; a game of pool to test his visual and spatial skills and a game of chess to test his analytical and logical thinking skills. I am quietly confident I can perform well in all these areas.

BUS DREAM: I would love to have a bus which goes into or quite near the Tesco store in Elmers End. Being elderly and not able to walk much, I have to shop at the nearest store to me, which is Sainsbury’s in Penge. But Tesco offers much more. I could get there by cab but this would cost £4.50 each way and people on pensions have to watch every penny. I am sure a bus service into the store would be appreciated by many.

SEEKING HELP: I am researching my family tree of Smith and am having difficulty finding any information on one family member. Her name is Marian Smith and she was born in Bromley in 1943. Her parents were George Smith and Nellie Andrews and I think her last known address was Old Bromley Road. Anyone who can help should call 01689 829159 or email jpankfolly@hotmail.co.uk
