I AM writing about irresponsible dog owners who allow their dogs to foul every road, pavement, public lawn and open space in Chislehurst and Mottingham.

They seem to think it is just a case of allowing the dog to do its business and it is then someone else’s problem.

Perhaps they imagine it gives the place a better look.

We can’t blame the dogs, they know no better, but the owners do and in my view it is they who are disgusting.

I hope Bromley Council stops and fines these owners. For the cost of a few coppers each week, they can buy poop scoops and plastic bags to put their dog’s droppings in.

Dog mess can be extremely dangerous to children.

Even if the mess has been picked up, germs and bacteria can still live on.

There is a worm which can enter the human body, attack the eyes and send the poor victim blind.

A child needs only to be playing on the grass or pavement, touch it with their hand and then buy an ice cream or sweets, and they are at risk.

I appreciate cats are more difficult to control. They can roam an area of five square miles.

But I suspect a decent litter box might help keep their habits under control. So come on pet owners, clean up after your animals.
