TENANTS on the Leybridge Court and Newstead estates in Lee Green ward are currently being balloted on a proposal to transfer their homes to Broomleigh — a not-for-profit housing association.
As one of their local councillors, I urge them to vote yes.
Broomleigh has made a series of legally-binding promises to residents, including installing new kitchens and bathrooms, to improve the environment on the estates and to introduce new services such as anti-social behaviour wardens.
Lewisham Council does not have the money to provide any of these improvements and there is no guarantee it ever will have.
Residents have worked really hard with Broomleigh and the council over the past year to make sure the deal on offer is a good one.
Rent will not go up by any more than it would with the council and residents keep their right to buy.
Tenants have until October 27 to return their ballot paper. Say yes to a better future for our estates.
CLLR BRIAN ROBSON
Liberal Democrat Councillor for Lee Green Ward
