I HAVE read conflicting views on refuse recycling recently.
One resident said she has had no problems with “plague systems”, while another told of problems with maggots.
Personally, I have had no problems and the system works well but my father, who is also a Bexley borough resident, needs carers three times a day with a change of pads on each occasion.
These pads mount up and, on calling the number for refuse collections, I was told Bexley does not have a system for collecting this sort of clinical waste and they need to be put in the green bin tied in plastic bags and will be collected every two weeks.
The smell is not good and of course, encourages maggots.
My mother, in her late 80s, sprays the bin regularly, but I feel unless you see the problems of people with care needs, it is easy to just think people are not being careful in recycling all their rubbish.
The green bin hardly holds all the pads used for two weeks.
