READING the letters page in the September 17 edition of News Shopper, one might gain the impression there will be no community facility in the redeveloped Crayford Town Hall site.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
The fact is the existing community space in the town hall is woefully under-used.
The consultants who the council commissioned two years ago to assess the use found even before the problems developed with the floor, the town hall was used to only 28 per cent of its capacity.
The consultants recommended, allowing for increased usage of 50 per cent, there should be up to 300sq m of community space — the redeveloped site will have rather more than this.
The development will bring much-needed new life and vitality to Crayford.
Not only will there be new purpose-built community facilities, but there will also be a new health centre and a new library.
