I READ with interest the letter (Sex Ads Legal But Not Right, News Shopper, September 17) regarding the banning of adult services advertisements and the comments made regarding the trafficking of girls who become slaves for men to profit from by selling their bodies.

This is a vile trade which must be stopped but I think there may be some confusion as to whether this decision will make a difference.

How many stories have we read about how someone has been arrested, charged and dealt with for human trafficking? Not many.

It appears although we read about it happening, nothing seems to be done about it.

The red light districts in London and other cities in this country are in particular the major destination for these girls to work and therefore should be the areas targeted.

Historically the demand for these services will never be cut, simply because men exist.

In other words if you want to stop the demand you must get rid of every man on the planet who can afford the luxury of frequenting these places.

Unfortunately, some men can’t or won’t differentiate between a trafficked girl and someone who does it voluntarily for the fun or money.

Some men are only interested in how cheap some of these places are and not whether they are aiding and abetting other men who force these girls into a miserable, lonely and dangerous existence in this country.

Just out of interest, I wonder how many of your readers who have anti-adult service provider views are women.
