AS I hear more and more of the Government's proposals to tackle knife crime - searching youths, throwing them in prison and banning knives from shops and homes - I think to myself, when will MPs learn?
The point is not the weapon, whatever it is, but the willingness to inflict injury and to harm others.
If the willingness is there in the heads of these attackers, it does not matter what weapon they choose.
The powers that be - MPs, Government officials, police, parents and teachers - need to address the mental attitude of these offenders.
The root of the problem is in their heads.
No love, care, discipline, deterrent, respect, fear, value of life or fear of death.
This is a very serious problem we are having in the UK of late and it needs tackling urgently.
It is a frightening situation for all of us.
