I totally agree with PubSpy's comments about The Nordenfelt pub, Erith Road, Erith.
My partner and I have frequented The Nordenfelt, which is nicknamed the Pom Pom, over the years.
Three or four years ago, the pub had a lovely atmosphere and all staff and customers were nice people.
The landlady's parents were our age, in their 50s, and so willing to do anything they could for anyone.
However, one year ago, the pub changed hands and gradually the crowd dispersed to pubs elsewhere.
As PubSpy mentioned, the men from the local industrial sites all came in after work and joined in with the nice atmosphere. But not any more.
Fridays or Saturdays had live music by semi-professionals and the pub would be packed.
Unfortunately, the new owners have lost the plot and people, including ourselves, have dispersed elsewhere.
The owners seem to live on a shoestring and always run out of beer.
When we have managed to buy a couple of pints, the beer is rotten.
We do not bother now to even call in for half a pint and just walk past the place.
It seems to me the couple who run it spend all their time on the machines while, very often, there are no bar staff to serve.
The bar staff employed are all very nice, though.
I have never seen a reply to Mr PubSpy in the letters page. Please can I be first?
He is obviously living nearby and used to be a regular of the pub.
