Letter to the editor: A number of people, including me, gathered round the Bromley war memorial to pay respects at 11am during the two-minute silence.
It was a beautiful day with the sun shining and birds singing and should have been a perfect setting.
I was surprised when a political group was allowed to process to the site at this time and hold speeches.
The group completely ruined the moment by talking, taking videos and pictures throughout the two minutes.
It should have been a time for remembrance for those that lost their lives, not a time for political statements.
With all the technology they had, at least one of the group should have been watching the time and called a halt to the meeting, even if they did not hear the cannon boom to signify the start.
The group might be anti-war, but its actions were anti- respectful.
