Letter to the editor: I would like to voice my criticism of the cycle and pedestrian way called the Ridgeway, which begins next to Plumstead station and goes to Thamesmead along the sewer bank.

The problem is the cycle gates. With a large framed bike, one has to turn the front-wheel to face the back-wheel and then lift up the back-wheel to fit the bike into the space because the gates are not big enough.

Presumably they were saving on the cost of metal. It would be a good idea if this fault could be rectified before any new cycle routes are planned.
