Letter to the editor: I was greatly moved and inspired by the news over the past couple of weeks and would like to propose a Margaret Thatcher Day when we try to do positive things to commemorate her leadership.
Here are a few of ideas:
- Get into conversation with your nearest homeless person and regale them with descriptions of just how comfortable your home/life is.
- Why not hold a spare bedroom party — the venue won’t cost a penny.
- On the day, go out of your way to support successful, thrusting businesses which pay no corporation tax here.
- Organise a day out (in a chauffeur-driven Roller perhaps) to any ex-industrial or mining town and picnic from Fortnum & Mason hampers. Locals will clear any rubbish.
- The main message from the day will be “if your life is in an economic mess it is probably all your own fault, get on with it”.
