Letter to the editor: Could you pass on our thanks to all the firefighters who fought this blaze in below-zero weather conditions at the Waste4Fuel recycling site.
As governor of nearby Kemnal Academy, I had already written to London Assembly member James Cleverley, Chairman of the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority, Bexley and Chislehurst MP Bob Neill and ward councillor John Ince outlining the wider issues in respect of the severe disruption to the school curriculum for pupils and teaching staff.
Following this latest outbreak, it is high time those in public office diligently investigate these incidents.
In a public statement via News Shopper they should give people and schools in the area an explanation as to the reason behind the fire with, hopefully, a resolution to shut the site down.
Colin Willetts, governor, Kemnal Academy, Orpington
