A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after an 18-year-old was stabbed to death in Dulwich on Wednesday, July 8.

The teenager, now identified as Donnell Rhule from south-east London, was found suffering from stab wounds on Seeley Drive, SE21, and was declared dead at the scene.

A 26-year-old man has now been arrested on the evening of July 10 on suspicion of murder, and has been taken into police custody.

But police say they are still eager to hear from anyone who witnessed the stabbing or saw anyone near the scene.

"Although one person has been arrested we are still very much in the early stages of the investigation," said DCI Rob Pack, senior investigating officer.

"We know a number of suspects and vehicles were involved in this murder and I’m appealing for help in identifying and tracing them."

Emergency services were called to the south east London location around 7pm on Wednesday, including London's air ambulance, but could not save the 18-year-old.

Homicide detectives leading the investigation believe Donnell was attacked on Lyall Avenue before making his way to a parade of shops on Seeley Drive.

A post-mortem examination held at Greenwich Mortuary on July 10 gave cause of death as an incised wound to the chest, consistent with a knife wound.

“Our local safer neighbourhood officers will provide an increased policing presence in the coming days to provide reassurance and support. I urge anyone with any information about the events leading to this tragic loss of life to come forward and tell us.”

DCI Rob Pack added that anyone with any information that can help the investigation, no matter how small, is asked to get in touch with police.

"This is a generally quiet area, so I am certain that a number of people will have seen or heard something significant."
