Musical theatre icon Hannah Waddingham is bringing all the festive feels into your home this year as she stars in her own musical show, Home for Christmas.

The 49-year-old has had a busy year in the spotlight as the third and final series of Ted Lasso launched on Apple TV+.

Back in October 2023, she was also awarded the entertainment gong at the Glamour Women of the Year awards.

Following that, she has also featured in the M&S and Bailey’s Christmas adverts and most recently co-hosted the Earthshot Prize on BBC One.

At the start of the year, she also presented the Eurovision Song Contest from Liverpool alongside Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon and Ukrainian singer Julia Sanina.

Speaking about the much-loved role, she said that despite Eurovision being “ridiculously hard work”, given the chance she would host the event every year.

“It was really the most ridiculously hard work for five days, but the greatest pleasure.

“The first thing I ever hosted was the Olivier Awards, barely two weeks before, that was literally the first time I had ever read from an autocue. And so then to move straight on to Eurovision, I felt slightly more adept.”

Where can I watch Hannah Waddingham's Christmas special?

Hannah Waddingham’s Christmas special (Home for Christmas) is available to watch from Apple TV today (November 22).

The Christmas musical extravaganza was filmed at the London Coliseum featuring some famous faces including Luke Evans, Sam Ryder and Phil Dunster.

There are also a few special appearances from the cast of Ted Lasso bringing their magical Christmas spirit to the stage.

In a review by The Guardian, it said: “If you ever wondered what it was like to see the cast of Ted Lasso, in various shades of sparkles, not in character but not quite themselves, perform a Christmas song or do a skit in front of an enormous Christmas tree and an 18-piece band, don’t worry, Apple has got your back.

“In a series of spectacular gowns, she chats to the crowd, gets emotional, belts out solo numbers and duets with the likes of Hamilton’s Leslie Odom Jr, Sam Ryder and the actor Luke Evans, introduces the London Gay Men’s Chorus and the Fabulous Lounge Swingers, all the while shimmying and swishing across the stage.”

The review added: “It’s a wonder Waddingham had time to film it, as she might just be the hardest working woman in the industry."
